A Blend of Locality and Contemporary in a 50 square meter Cabin House
Located in Shahrkoola village, Iran, Wicker House is a weekend house building that combines contemporary design with local materials. This fifty-square-meter building is on the shore of an artificial lake, so it has an attractive surrounding natural environment as a weekend residence. The initial concept desired by Shaygan Gostar Architectural Group was to create a space that fits the local architecture by having a new outlook and experience of the space.

This building is designed by highlighting woven straws to preserve local materials. Although there is a clay wall on the front of the building, the local impression is highlighted on the floor and walls in the building.

The mass of the building in the form of a triangular geometry with the addition of boxes creates a new view and experience of the space based on the owner's wishes. Furthermore, this simple shape makes this building look minimalist with a local touch.

The presence of contemporary architecture is strengthened by the use of iron material for the main structure of the building and also as an outer wall on the boxy part of the building. In addition, the use of glass adds a contemporary impression and a visual experience for its users, as well as a regulator of air circulation and natural lighting.

Wicker House presents how vernacular architecture can be combined with current styles to create new experiences and views for the present and future.
