Kurosawa Kawara-Ten studio has completed a weekend house located on the edge of a residential complex in the suburbs of Kisaradu, Japan. In designing this house, Kurosawa Kawara-Ten had three important concepts: unique proportions that cannot be seen in ordinary homes, an outward view, and a minimum footprint that prevents the felling of plants.

With those three concepts, they started by arranging the function of the space according to the needs of the space owner wanted. Then, arranging the space according to this need is done By maximizing the floor area, making the first floor smaller and the cantilever on the second floor. As well as creating enough space with a good view of the green slopes that residents make. Also, they are planning a rooftop because it is possible to see the view of Tokyo from the top of this house.

On the ground floor, it functions as a utility room containing a bathroom and storage room; on the second floor, it is used as a family room, kitchen, and bedroom. With this spatial arrangement, on the second floor, there are openings with triangular-shaped glass that make the view from the interior unique.

The material used in this design on the exterior wall of the first floor is wooden boards, and the second floor is galvanized panels for easy maintenance by the owner. While the interior uses wood press panels as walls, the use of wood material in this residence gives a comfortable and warm impression of a house. In addition, the main structure in this building also uses locally produced wood.

The wood material used in this building is local wood that was cut down without plans to be distributed to the market due to the wood shock caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the spread of the disease, and a major typhoon in 2019. So then, they decided to try to switch functions by using these trees to build houses.
